Mental Case — Flashcards for the Serious Student App Reviews

Time for an apple watch app...

Ive owned the desktop and iOS app for a while and Ive been waiting for an apple watch app for a while since flashcards seem perfect for learning on your apple watch when youve got a few minutes of time on your hand (like standing in a line). So its been over a year and a half... The desktop app is really good, and Id be ready to pay for the iOS app if it had apple watch functionality but now Im looking around to change my flashcards app for one that works with the apple watch (and there are quite a few now). Its a pity, cause I really like mental case

Waste of money!

Great idea but simply does not work even marginally on an IPad. Cant download half of my Quizlet study sets. Functions not intuitively obvious. Little useful information available. Just does not work. Wasted my money.

Waste of money

This app seems like a good idea but is terrible in its execution. Yea the app on the computer is pretty well done but how can a company fail so hard on the phone/tablet version? In terms of its functionality: how are you not able to make flash cards on the app itself?? Why is the syncing of the computer version and the app so terrible? It literally does not work...at all. Its not user friendly to try and figure it out and I am not at all inept when it comes to computers etc. why not just a simple "transfer to app" or import from computer? Bluetooth notecard stack transfer? Anything than what you guys have. Its completely useless and i regret buying this app. Dont waste your money

Non intuitive

Garbage Unhelpful and stupid app!

Extremely Useful

I used this religiously throughout high school and Im using it once again in university. Once you get used to the not so intuitive UI, youll begin to appreciate how powerful a tool it is. Some things Ive found useful: - you can easily import decks from Quizlet using the apps built in search function. - the slide show mode reintroduces cards that are marked as missed, so youll get to try memorizing it again - other stuff, Im lazy but Mental Case is great.

O melhor

Muito bom, sem comentários. O melhor........ This is the app!!

Gut

An own Web Interface would be Great to be able to make flashcards without a Mac.. Platform sync is okay but Not the best for Cross Device learning

The best app in its kind

If you need app to study flashcards - its the best one. Moreover, new iCloud sync works almost like a magic.

Nice app, but

Its not working so far. Very unstable. Although Ive reseted the iCloud sync several times its only working very seldom. Please improve!!

dont buy - sync doesnt work

Mental Case II allows to sync with the Mac app only via iSync which DOES NOT WORK. the previous method, via WIFI transfer, which worked fine, no longer exists.

Huge disappointment

Having been a long time customer of Mental Case (IOS and Mac) I’m very disspaointed with the new Mental Case 2. Sync between devices (MAC & IOS) doesn’t work any more. The ICloud sync switch on my IOS device is greyed out. Even in case it somehow works, it definitely doesn’t work in a user friendly way. And the latter is what you pay money for as a client.

Do not buy!

From a newsletter: Mental Case will remain available for a while in the Mac App Store." Happens now the second time to me, that they make you buy a new software (they call it here "Studies 1.0", the last time they called it "Mental Case 2.0"). Also this time, the software wont get better, sync was hell.

Soooo slow

This version is so slow that its a pain to use. Liked the old version better iCloud sync is mediocre at best. Works ok, but large downloads to sync and crashes quite regularly.

Wonderful but also unstable

Older version(s) became unstable after about 700-1000 cards. Other than that it worked fantastic. I especially liked how easy it was to make new cards on the iPhone. Im hoping the new version will permit me to make 1000+ cards but Im afraid to try it and see...

What direction is this app going in?

The original version of this app was very nice. I liked it so much that I didnt mind the $35 investment... Then I had to pay again for Mental Case 2, that only really offered iCloud syncing. I didnt really see the value in the additional cost, it felt more like an update than an upgrade, but OK. Now it appears like with every successive update the app feels less and less well thought out. The presentation was originally well thought out, now it just feels amateurish and buggy. It really is too bad.

Great study app

If you stay on top of adding cards, this becomes a solid addition to studying - flashcards are ready for whenever you have a few minutes! Works wonderfully with the mac program (which is easier to type your cards into initially)

Sync problems AND sequencing problems

I bought this app and the EXPENSIVE MacBook app specifically so my computer and phone would be synced. NEVER works, and Ive had totally wimpy responses to support requests. One mentioned that I have a lot of cards--like your algorithm doesnt work regardless!?!? AND even when I deleted the iphone app completely and restored it via iCloud and then turned OFF iCloud sync, and took it travelling the iphone app failed to schedule my cards correctly. My advice--great app for phone only and only for a small number of cards.

Great app.

Helps your studying, what more do you need?

Update Is Broken

Used to work, now all I get as a blank frozen screen where none of the buttons do anything.

not syncing with iCloud

The new update is supposed to fix icloud syncing problems.. I reset icloud on all devices and waited like they said and it still hardly works. The app is amazing otherwise, but useless for me without icloud and you can’t sync through iTunes. Please fix it and I’ll change my rating.
